I normally go with 22 because my birthday is 4/22, but at the time someone had it, so I went with my birth year. At the same time, I like the combination with apocalypse because I hope someday to be a force to be reckoned with on the derby track. Plus, Alpacas are friendly, which I like to think I am. I toyed with the idea of a few different names but finally went with Alpacalypse because my family is from Peru. I had a hard time trying to find a name that fit. What’s the story behind your derby name? How did you pick yours? I joined in March 2018 and have enjoyed every minute since. How long have you been involved with derby? Then in 2018, I finally had the time to check it out. I was in awe at how cool it was! I tucked that memory away and said one day I want to do that. I remember I saw a flyer for OCRD a long time ago and got my cousins to go to a game with me. How and why did you get involved in roller derby? If you had a secret power, what would it be?
I love Jason Mraz’s music, it just fills me with joy : ) Marching out before a college football game was so thrilling! I was part of the marching band in high school, but never actually marched until college. I was in the University of California Berkeley Marching Band (Cal Band Great!).

I had skates as a kid and would go to the local skating rink with my family, but never learned how to stop (very important) until derby. I played softball as a kid, and in high school, I played on the softball team for a year, wrestling team for a year, and swimming for two years.ĭid you have any skating experience before joining derby? I am an accountant with Disney, so I sit a lot. I am a blocker, but have so much more to learn. 39, these old bones just ain’t what they used to be : )
